What is a wedding celebrant?
A wedding celebrant is a professionally trained and fully insured officiant with the skills and experience to completely bespoke and personalise ceremonies to your exact specifications. Wherever you’re thinking of as long as you have the permission from the land owner, then you can have your ceremony pretty much anywhere.
Why should I choose a celebrant led wedding?
Well, for many reasons. Getting married is the single most important day of your life. It’s something which we only plan on doing once in our life time, so why not have your special day personalised to your specifications, to suit your individual personalities. I will get to know you both as a couple and individually. Unlike a registrar, a celebrant will help create and craft an unforgettable and unique experience.
How does a celebrant led ceremony differ from a registrar led ceremony?
A celebrant has no restrictions in terms of the style of wedding, content and format, therefore can be completely personalised.
You can still have vows, readings, exchange of rings including the signing of a ‘ceremony certificate’. A celebrant led ceremony will have all and more of the elements which you would expect from that of a ceremony conducted by a registrar.
The difference is, registrar led ceremonies are the same as the rest, they will have their own script for you to follow by, they will not spend time getting to know you on a personal level and will also be on a time schedule, meaning they will have to be strict on time. With a registrar, you are given 40 minutes then it’s on to the next, similar to ‘conveyer belt ceremonies’. There is nothing special, original, unique or personal to you.
The profound love you have for one another should speak volumes on your special day and be reflected in your script when you look into each other's eyes as you commit yourselves to each other and declare your love before family and friends. A celebrant will help you achieve all this and so much more, helping you create and craft an unforgettable and unique experience. Having a personal input to what will be the most important part of your day is a choice, and it’s your choice!
Can our ceremony be held both indoors and outdoors?
Yes of course. Celebrant led ceremonies are not bound by rules which gives us the freedom to give our couples choice. Your ceremony can be held where you have always dreamt of. Registrars can only conduct ceremonies under a permanent licensed fixed structure, limiting you on choice. Celebrants, however, can perform your ceremony wherever you wish (with land owners permission). This allows us to open up potential and explore many possibilities. Remember, it’s about choice and that choice is yours in its entirety.
Can we have a choice of content?
Absolutely. This may include style, music, timings, you may also wish to add religious notes or keep it completely secular the choice is entirely yours. Handfastings, tree planting, sand pouring may also be something you have thought about. You may even wish for friends and family members to be involved. This is the joy and freedom a celebrant led ceremony offers.
Your wedding ceremony should be remembered as the most intimate and authentic moment of your life. Make your wedding ceremony a one-of-a-kind and customised which will reflective your personality, vision, and style.
Do we need to be legally married prior to having a celebrant led ceremony?
No. However to make your marriage legal, you will need to complete the legal paperwork at your local registry office with two witnesses for the signing of the documents, this is your legal wedding, not your ceremony. You do not have to exchange rings at this point, this part can be saved for the actual ceremony, just let the registry office know this is your intent. Your ceremony can still take place before or after, however, please NOTE: that it will not be legally binding until the signing of the legal documents at your local registry office.
